I've seen this trend lately and I knew that it made some sense right away, so I started to do a little digging into what exactly it does. I knew it was made of rice, but that was really about it :0 It turns out Sake, it a Japanese word and rice wine drink- minus the bran; there are over 80 types of Japanese sake!

Wine normally utilizes ethanol in order to enact the fermentation process, however Sake is created through a brewing process that is more like beer. It does differ from beer though in that it's conversion of starches to sugars and from sugars to alcohol happens in one simultaneous step; beer happens in 2 distinct steps.

It is unknown exactly on Sake's exact origin, but there are mentions of creating Chinese alcoholic beverages that predate recorded history. By 712 A.D., Japan's first written history was compiled, which is here that we see the first actual direct mention of Sake. Japan even has an official "Sake Day"- October 1st ;) Check out what Sake can do for your skin below:

  1. Sake is packed full of kojac acid and this is a super-friendly alternative to the chemical lightening [works on age spots & freckles too] methods that can sometimes end up causing more harm than good. It also takes fewer applications to achieve the lightening level that you want.
  2. Prevent breakouts & blemishes! Sake is a powerful and ideal toner with antimicrobial properties that can boost skin's natural fighting power against acne :)
  3. Moisturize and protect skin from free radicals with long-lasting results. Sake makes an excellent moisturizer and less is needed to achieve a continual moisturization, unlike regular moisturizers that can end up drying out skin instead!
  4. Smooth wrinkles and prevent the signs of aging. Sake's rice oil penetrates deep into the skin and prevents new wrinkles from forming and leaves skin very smooth as a result.

Sake Treatment Water

Water (Aqua), Pentylene Glycol, PEG/PPG-17/6 Copolymer, Rice Ferment Filtrate (Sake), Sodium Hyaluronate, Sodium PCA, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Arginine, Niacinamide, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Epilobium Angustifolium Flower/Leaf/Stem Extract, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Extract, Butylene Glycol, Caprylyl Glycol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Olive Oil PEG-7 Esters, Maltodextrin, Tropolone, Disodium EDTA

This Sake Treatment Water is absolutely fabulous! I have tried a couple of similar products from other brands, but I honestly wasn't all that impressed with their effectiveness or results. This products however, was entirely different and I could tell the moment it arrived. Boscia means botanical science and they consider themselves to be the leader in the field!

This is the product you didn\’t think you needed and soon realized you can\’t live without. It visibly brightens and hydrates dull skin. If you have a big skin care ritual (as I do) and layer many products this is so nice because it really does help everything absorb better. Before sake treatment water my products sometimes pilled because they weren’t absorbing. Now I no longer have that problem!

You can really see that with all of their products and I wasn't all that surprised when this arrived, as it was just what I was hoping it to be- an effective brightener, moisturizer, acne fighter, and skin smoother :) The bottle is nicely designed and has the signature boscia look of a light aquamarine blue that fades into white.

The picture doesn't actually quite do this product justice, as it's actually clear at the top, allowing for you to see inside the bottle. This gives the bottle a unique and cool look and I didn't mind leaving it sitting out. The snap-on lid hides the well-designed nozzle that lets you pump out the amount of needed product. The provided instructions advise to use up to 2 full depressions for application, however I found that I could use 1 and it was all that I needed ;)

Was unsure of this at first, but then when I saw how much better my other products layered, I was a believer!! It’s crazy how it thickens on the skin as you massage it in. For sure, will be a constant in my skin care routine!

I would recommended for all skin types and as I myself have fairly sensitive and fair skin, I would have to agree! I really found no issues at all and that's not always the effect I've gotten when utilizing treatment waters of a similar nature. There's no annoying scent either to the product and it has a very pleasant light and clean scent that's barely noticeable. I LOVE the way that my skin feels after using the Sake Treatment Water from boscia- just soft and smooth!

This product does an excellent job at providing a good moisture barrier for skin as well. I would DEF recommend this one to anyone of any age or skin type. The slight drawback that I can see with this product is the pricing. It's mid-range at $46 for 1.85 fluid ounces, however a little bit goes quite a long ways with this item which means you will get your money's worth :)

WHO IS boscia?

The company was originally created 36 years ago in Japan and then introduced later in the U.S. in 2002. They have the awesome claim to fame of being the worlds FIRST 100% preservative-free skincare brand. Their commitment to making products that achieve superior results- while also not compromising your skin's health, is fantastic!

All of the products that boscia makes are formulated without: Preservatives, Ethanol Alcohol, Bactericides, Synthetic fragrances & colorants, Mineral oil, animal ingredients, AND gluten! That's a really extensive list and one that I like as it allows for even those with the most sensitive of skin, use their products with no worries.

Each of their products is created in a unique "Clean Room" facility that allows for no human contact and this ensures that the plant is bacteria-free. All raw materials that are mixed, are also sterilized at high heat. This means that boscia's products remain at a top-notch quality that's fresh and bacteria-free.
