EVER FEEL LIKE YOUR SPENDING TOO MUCH $ ON HAIR CARE PRODUCTS?!
I saw a recent study that was conducted here in the U.S. in regards to how much money we actually spend on haircare products and I wasn't surprised: researchers looked at a 3-month period from January 2013- March 2014 on amount spent on haircare products and found that over 25% spend under $50 and over 11% spent between $50-99. Adding those up in yearly terms, that means that on average, over 35% of us spend anywhere from $200- $396 a year in just hair care products alone :0
For most of us, we could probably think of quite a few things that we could do with money instead. The good news is, things have changed in the haircare industry and for beauty as well- it's become a lot easier to snag awesome products that don't cost an arm-and-a-leg :) Check out my thick & coarse hair tips below + a couple of recommended AND affordable hair care products to achieve that beautiful sleek and shiny hair:
EASY TIPS FOR COARSE & THICK HAIR:
- As someone who has coarse and thick hair, I definitely understand the challenges that can often arise; the key is to start with how you're treating your body from the inside-out: boost hair's natural shine, strength, and manageability with natural ingredients and foods. Coconut Oil, Jojoba Oil, Soybean Oil, and Shea Butter are all natural aids in protecting & moisturizing your hair that can be applied directly to the scalp and hair by massaging in when you have just cleansed your hair. As for foods, a few of my fav's are: Avacados, Kiwi, Dark Chocolate, Salmon, Walnuts, & Sunflower seeds- boost your hair's natural shine, strength, & overall health.
- Try a shampoo and conditioner that doesn't contain sulfates, parabens, and other ingredients than cause hair to become dry, brittle, and frizzy. I'm really loving both of ALTERNA Haircare's CAVIAR Anti-aging Replenishing Moisture Shampoo [$9] & Conditioner [$32]. These ALTERNA products contain Caviar extract, Vitamin C to boost hair's strength and health + they don't contain Parabens, Sulfates, or Phthalates either :)
- Utilize a deep-penetrating treatment designed for your scalp and hair at least once a week and stick with a product that has hydration, smoothness, and rebalance of pH in mind. As I also have color-treated hair and it's super coarse and thick to boot, one my big fav's right now is the Cleansing Mask with Lemon from Christopher Robin; this awesome, deep-penetrating mask will cleanse, exfoliate, and soften your hair/scalp in a snap!
- Once you reach the styling stage of your hair, it's very important to stay mindful of protecting your hair-especially while heat-styling! You can cause more frizziness, damage, and dryness to your hair if you don't :0 This doesn't mean however, that you have to spend tons of money in order to do it! got2b has some awesomely affordable products that will help you achieve the perfect shiny & sleek hair in no time :) I recommend: got2b double curling power curling mousse and got2b glossy anti-fizz shine serum. Check out the lowdown on these items below...
double curling power
One of the BEST inexpensive curl-definers that I've tried! I fell in love with this product from the start and not just for the awesome pricing! It doesn't get sticky, defines curls with ease, and smells fantastic! I don't normally consider myself to have the most manageable hair when it air-dries, but I was able to apply this product after getting out of the shower and by the time my hair had dried, it had beautiful bouncy and defined curls- with NO frizz = yeah! :)
If you've been looking for a great mouse that doesn't break the bank and actually works, then the double curling power Curling Mousse from got2b is the way to go. It won't flake as it dries, has a lovely scent, and is still manageable!
I've been seeking an affordable version of any hair serum and I've had a bit of a tougher time in finding the perfect one. got2b's glossy SHINE SERUM is DEF my top pick, as it does an excellent job of taming flyaways and coarse hair in general- making it soft, shiny, and smooth! This is a perfect product for prepping hair before utilizing a heat-tool for styling or if you'd like to freshen up your sleek style or just calm down thick/coarse hair throughout the day.
A nice bonus about his less-costlier version, is that you can use it on both wet AND dry hair too. I'd normally expect to find this kind of quality and effectiveness in a much pricier product and I was definitely impressed. I would recommend this product to even those who may not have thicker or coarser hair, but just want to improve overall shine, health, and protection when styling.
