HEARD OF BLISSMO?
Being the beauty maven that I am, I've tried many of the subscription services offered out there and there quite a few that fall quite short. A lot of these subscription boxes arrive on a monthly basis, but they don't always arrive at your door with things that you want :/ That's why I like companies like Blissmo- they've been around for a few years and were one of the first sub's that I gave a try and I was actually quite surprised at how much I ended up loving their beauty boxes!
I don't get them every month as I have other subs that I'm signed up for as well, but you can skip the month when it comes time to choose your box. Blissmo offers up 2 options and sends you a link via email to choose between an organic snack box or beauty box. I've been very busy trying to graduate and get into Grad school for the summer and didn't pay that much attention though, to my usual email that I receive from them. Instead, I forgot to skip or choose my normal beauty box option and this defaults your selection to the snack box [if you don't pick by the time-frame they give you- which is usually a few days from receiving the email].
I was a bit dismayed and contacted Blissmo to let them know what had happened and they explained to me the "mix-up" that was actually caused by my own error [lol!]. Not only was Blissmo super nice about the issue, they also gave me an additional FREE month for all of my troubles and this means that I will be able to snag a beauty box as my pick for this month's option! Make sure to be on the lookout for that post to land on my main posting page for the March 2016 Blissmo Beauty Box ;)
THE BEAUTY CLOSET'S SUBSCRIPTION BOX REVIEW:
BLISSMO SNACK BOX:
This option was a total of $24.90 in healthy snack picks from Blissmo- so I really had no idea what was going to arrive ;) It turns out though, that there were several items in the box that I loved although the rest of the family really weren't all that into anything in the box. My fiance and teenage step-son don't really care for organic and natural treats all that much and I usually get them all to myself as a result ;) Here's what I got:
- I Heart Keenwah Quinoa Cluster Chocolate Sea Salt [1 oz. snack bag].
- Manitoba Harvest Hemp Hearts "Natural" [.9 oz. packet].
- Kiwa Vegetable Chips Mix [2.5 oz. bag].
- Vitafive Essentials Pack Gummy Vitamins [1 ind. pack].
- Tosi Almond Super Bites [1 2.6 oz. bar].
- Bite Fuel Protein Granola Trail Mix in "Red Berry" [1.5 oz. snack size bag].
- Chic a Peas Baked Crunchy Chickpeas in "Fresh Salsa" [2 oz. bag].
- Manitoba Harvest Hemp Heart Bar in "Chocolate" [1.6 oz bar].
- Kutoa Blueberry Almond [1.7 oz. bar].
I was really excited about this box when it arrived, but it didn't turn out to be all that much when it comes to volume and I ended u a bit disappointed when I realized that I paid almost $25 total for this box. As I normally go with Blissmo's Beauty Box option and I usually love it, I decided to give this one an honest try- despite some of my initial reservations.
One of the issues besides pricing, was that I could only eat about half of the items in the entire box- most of them looked absolutely delicious. Unfortunately though, there were a few snack in the box that were too hard/chewy and I felt they might damage my teeth and dental work that is already having issues at it is. I was able to go for the Hemp Hearts from Manitoba Harvest first as I'd already tasted these delectable treats before and they were the same great seed snack I remembered. I went for Manitoba's Heat Bar next, but I couldn't really eat it as it was just entirely too chewy- I didn't taste okay from what I could tell.
Shortly following giving the Hemp Heart Bar a try, I decided on the Tosi Almond Bites. I really liked these and although I did find it a bit on the super hardy & crunchy side- I found the taste to be great. If you like Almonds you will LOVE this one! I haven't run into to me people that like Chickpeas as I do, which is why I do believe that Chickpeas are an "acquired taste"- that being said, these were fantastic! They're cooked to perfection and the salsa flavor of these in particular, might be something that even those that don't prefer Chickpeas would like ;)
Now we get to the Kiwi Vegetable Chips: these things are actually really good- I wasn't a huge fan of the beetroot chips that were included in this mix, but the plantains, parsnip, cassava, & sweet potato chips were great. There's just hydrogenated vegetable oil an salt for seasoning, but they're cooked to an excellent crisp and are actually similar to normal potato chips...they're just TONS better for you :)
The granola mix was actually fairly tasty too, although it's a bit on the hard side- it IS granola after all! I found it to be a nice sweet pick-me-up snack during work and that I could periodically nibble on while working, making it a very affordable & healthy option. As for the remaining treat- the Blueberry Almond bar, I couldn't really eat it either; this treat tasted good but it was too hard and chewy to manage :/ All in all, I liked several of the snacks included in last month's Blissmo Snack box, but I'm not sure this would be a regular choice for me- I think I'm going to stick with the Beauty Box selection and look forward to what great beauty finds arrive in this month ;)
