This will be the conclusion from Part I posting of the first three drugstore products that I compared and reviewed to luxe products yesterday. I especially wanted to make sure I found a variety of products so that I could really see for myself and share my experience with my readers from a well-rounded perspective :) These two products will be the last two from the drugstore collection that I picked out and I also did do a comparison of two luxe products that I own myself. Ultimately, I ended up deciding that although the pricing was nice, the results were just not what I was looking for in my beauty products. I want things that are better for my skin, healthy even! You CAN find things that are moderately priced...BUT there's also the old proverb: "You get what you pay for..." and I do think that applies here.

I was actually hoping for a LOT more from this product...BUT it wasn't at all what I thought it would be. The color does not really translate into what you see here and although with lip products I know that can be sometimes be the case- this was different. The color just didn't have the right pigmentation and didn't look right even with having the appearance of a nice neutral shade. There was also the taste itself-which was far from pleasant and tasted cheap :/ I did LOVE the container and way that the product dispensed in addition to how much product there was for only $8, but I could see that the reason they had to include so much of the product was due to its lack-luster staying power too :( I was very disappointed in this product! I am very picky with lip products and that should be noted, but I did go into this one with an open mind and I AM willing to use drugstore items, especially lip products- if they fit the bill! This lip stick just didn't do it for me. I would stay away!
JULEP PLUSH POUT LIP CRAYON- ALMOND NUDE $12*
Rosehip seed oil delivers essential nutrients to soothe and repair.
Malvaceae Lipid Extract™ improves barrier function so skin retains moisture.
Green coffee bean oil invigorates skin & promotes cell turnover.
I just LOVE this product from Julep...AND at only $4 more than the one from L'oreal, you are going to get a LOT better quality, taste, and enjoy the item probably much more! I used this every day and it has greatly improved my lip's softness! It's also great for wearing with any outfit or makeup as this almond nude color is a very flattering neutral! The product should go perfectly with most skin tones as it is so complimentary :) The center core also has a great composition of a nourishing complex that is exclusive to Julep and really does work to stressed lips. It will stay on, although it's a sheer color and the container is very nicely made and unique. Julep did a great job of making their own spin on a twist-up container for one of their newer lip crayon beauty products. If I were to compare to the lip product mentioned from L'oreal above, they would really be on opposite ends of the scale, with Julep being the definitely on the winning end!
HARD CANDY- HIGHLIGHT & CONTOUR CHEEK DUO IN CHEEKY PINK $6*
I was hesitant about this product as well, but as I'd never seen many drugstore versions of cheeck stains and sticks, I decided this one was worth a try. There have been times in the past that I liked some of Hard Candy's products too! This product was however, not a great product. It felt cheap from the start, and was very difficult to apply. The product has the right idea, but even after attempting multiple times to swipe on my cheeks, I was barely able to get color showing. I did choose one of the lighter of the three options available, but I felt that it should have shown up more than almost nothing at all like it was! It did not feel good on my skin and cheeks either and left a sort of dry almost chalky feeling after it seemed to dry almost immediately. The container was nice as you could dispense the product ok, but it felt cheap and was too flat on top to really fall on your face properly during application. Lastly, the product has NO staying power whatsoever as it just seemed to wipe off with little effort and that isn't something that will work for cheek stain and contouring!
BENEFIT COSMETICS- FINE ONE ONE $30*
This IS a much nicer quality product that the other cheek stick mentioned above from Hard Candy AND this one is formulated with NO Parabens too. However, I am NOT the biggest fan of this one either. There ARE some positives- the container is super cute and works really well at pushing up additional product with ease. The formula doesn't contain all of the nasty ingredients that the above cheek product from Hard Candy does and it does go on smoothly with a nice feel. The product itself could be a little bit better with probably a LOT more of the highlighter and a lot less of the orangish shade. It's also not very easy to apply just one of the colors like the highlighter or pink shade in the middle the form of the makeup does not really make it very possible. The idea is nice, but I am not quite sure I am really like the multi-colored cheek sticks yet. I DO like cheek sticks and have tried several I DO like, but I am not sure they have this concept quite down yet to make it really effective or efficient. Lastly, the product could be a tad bit on the cheaper side as there is only about .28 oz. of product for $30 AND it doesn't seem that it will last me very long if I used on a daily basis or frequently.
