WHY YOU SHOULD START A SERUM EVEN IN YOUR 20'S...
I'm not sure why this didn't occur to me before, but I didn't think that even adding such a product to my beauty and skincare routine was that important in my 20's! I've seen the ads, read about the products, and done some research- but I never came to the determination that I needed one myself! But starting a serum while you are young is NOT going to hurt and it may actually prevent damage from even occurring! If you can "beat the clock" and get a head start, there's a good chance you are going to get commonly mistaken for someone that's in her 20's....when she's actually in her 30's ;)
Now of course, your skin has different needs in your younger years than it does later in life! This should be kept in mind when choosing a serum, ensuring that you are getting a product that is designed for a specific purpose and for your age group! In doing so, you will get the right results and will be working towards solving a specific problem area or issue for your skin.
WHAT DOES A VITAMIN C SERUM DO FOR YOUR SKIN?
Vitamin C works....period. There science is there and has been for a LONG time, so this is definitely an ingredient that IS good for skin and WILL help improved collagen production in the body in regards to connective tissue- skin, teeth, and bones! Vitamin C is a very strong antioxidant and is actually needed for the production of collagen, therefore direct application to the skin can give you great results!
It will boost your skin's collagen product and reduce hyperpigmentation too! Natural sources of Vitamin C include: green leafy plants, citrus (fruits), broccolli, and strawberries. Although Vitamin C works well on its own, its been shown in research to work best in tandem with Vitamin E and ferulic acid. When looking for a good Vitamin C serum, look for one that contains those ingredients as well!
Vitamin C brings a lot to the table for your skin and depigmentation is just one of them! It can also provide anti-inflammatory properties to skin too! If you have acne or rosacea, Vitamin C can make a huge difference and really improve those conditions!
PRECAUTIONS WITH VITAMIN C:
For the most part, Vitamin C is super safe to use on a daily basis and for long period of time. However, some may notice that they do have a mild adverse reaction such as: skin discoloration, stinging, erythema, and some dryness. It can also stain clothing and hair due to oxidation! Also, make sure to be VERY careful when applying Vitamin C near the eyes as well! I haven't had any of the milder skin reactions except for the latter- I got a little to close to right underneath my eyes with a product once containing Vitamin C and it was not a pretty result! I ended up with a small allergic reaction underneath both eyes that took a few days to heal! I would NOT recommend putting any product-especially a highly-concentrated serum that contains Vitamin C, very near your eyes!
beauty product review:
abiding youth- 20% vitamin c serum $11.25*

There a LOT of these serums out on the market and this is right up there with one of the best that I've tried! Abiding Youth hit all the right factors in this Vitamin C serum that puts it at the top o fmy list :) They made sure to include Vitamin E and Hyaluronic Acid which are key booster ingredients that helps ensure the Vitamin C's effectiveness.
The bottle is well-made, easy to open and keep well-sealed from air exposure, yet its a decently sized small bottle even for it's 1 oz. weight! I have noticed that with some of the similar serums I've gotten in the past, there is a tendency to create a larger than necessary bottle and I find that it ends of taking a ton of space and just leaves my beautiful skin care collection sitting there with a huge brown bottle added to the mix :/
The formula itself is good quality, with only about 6-8 drops needed in order to cover your entire face and neck area. It spreads easily and drops easily out of the dropper so you should be able to dispense and apply with ease! There is NO smell at all- which is great since I don't always run into that result with similar serums that contain such a high concentration of Vitamin C. Sometime with the organic serums, I've noticed some type of smell, but this one had nothing at all!
I noticed a difference in my skin immediately after the first usage. My skin felt incredibly smooth, softer, and looked plumper! After about 3 days of usage, I began to notice that the lines around my mouth and eyes have definitely softened :) My skin tone also looks more even too. As for my makeup, I have to put on less and it goes on my easier too. I was even able to put some of this serum underneath my eyes, which I usually can't do as my skin is beyond sensitive, but I was able to put this right underneath my eyes daily without any adverse reactions!
All-in-all, Abiding Youth did an excellent job with this serum and it's one that I highly recommend giving a try. If you haven't started using a Vitamin C serum- this one would be a fantastic one to start out with! As an added bonus, it is VERY affordable currently with pricing at under $15 so there really isn't much to lose. Plus, Abiding Youth stands behind their products: if you don't like your product 100%, they will refund you $$$- even if you return an empty bottle!
