There is that age old proverb, "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" ...and I really do believe that's true! I've always thought that beauty was and is based on perspective and what one person may find to be beautiful, another may not. However, this doesn't mean that we can't hold ourselves- bodies, minds, etc. to a healthy standard of living. A standard that encourages inward AND outward beauty as a result :)

I think today as women, we definitely have our work cut out for us in regards to living and staying healthy- we have become enormously busy with family life, careers, work, and more which means we don't have a lot of time for ourselves! I've found myself lately with almost no time to relax since I began going back to school, and I have also begun to see the general toll that it's taken on my overall health.

I've decided that I wanted to dedicate an area of my site to health and wellness as I myself find it is easy to get into this busy lifestyle "rut"! I wanted to be able to share what I've discovered and researched on products and well-being improvements that not only improve and enrich our lives for our inward beauty...but for our outward beauty as well! Please make sure to check out my new HEALTH & WELLNESS tab above or hit the link below:

I am NOT a doctor and no means am I intending to dispense medical advice. I only what to share healthy living tips and wellness products, so if you do need a professional medical opinion or have an actual medical emergency, please contact a physician or 911 immediately! This is ONLY intended as health and wellness advice and tips- in addition to wellness product reviews :)

Many of you may have heard or seen quite a bit about essential oils and wondered exactly what they were talking about and I did too! They are often promoted as health and wellness products, but I was not sure exactly what they did.

An essential oil is basically a type of concentrated liquid that contains aroma compounds that are derived usually from plants.  They can be known as: volatile, ethereal, or aetherolea oils and will contain the "essence" of the plant's fragrance that they are extracted from. These types of oils are generally extracted by steam distillation and can include using solvents in to complete the process.

There have been many proposed benefits of these essential oils throughout history ranging from skin treatments to cancer remedies and most of these oils are now regulated in most counties for that reason. Lately, there's been renewed interest in these oils in the realm of aromatherapy.

Aromatherapy involves a branch of alternative medicine that makes claims of curative effects by use of aromatic oils. These oil can be diluted in a carrier oil and used for massage, heated over a candle or flame, burned as incense, or even diffused by a nebulizer. The earliest recorded usage of these types of Aromatic techniques can be found as far back as 1188 when the physician, pharmacist, and chemist Ibn al-Baitar used them to produce these essential oils.

The Lavender Essential Oil has a very pleasant scent and would really be nice for any room and/or occasion. It's oil is derived form the Lavandula Officinalis plant, which is what also gives the oil its nice sweet and clean smell. It's an excellent oil for use with aromatherapy, even for those who may sometimes be sensitive to perfumes and aromas. It's a very good scent for encouragement of relaxation too!

This one did not seem to both me at all and I used throughout the home and the rest of the family enjoyed as well. I got several compliments from others in the family who felt that the overall home scent was quite nice-even with a child and 2 cats in the residence!I was able to create a very nice setup of my own by purchasing a small bundle of new, natural reeds for use with aromatherapy from a local retail store for under $4! I was able to make a very cute and affordable diffuser for almost nothing $!

I already had a nice vase from some previous flowers my fiance had given me ;) and I used this in tandem with the new reed bundle and it worked out perfectly as you can see from my picture below :) When I placed the oil in the vase, I used a few drops of the Lavender Oil itself and used a carrier oil that I already had as well (fractionated coconut oil) to dilute the essential oil for use.

As a great added bonus, both of these oils are made here in the U.S. and are NOT tested on animals either! InstaNatural's products do NOT contain: Parabens,  harmful alcohols, or sulfates.

The 100% pure Peppermint Essential Oil is a much stronger oil! I would highly NOT recommend if you seem to be sensitive to stronger scents-even natural ones. I could smell the bottle before I even took the seal off, so I knew to be very careful!

I had to dilute this oil MUCH MORE before use as the strength of it was incredible! I only had to use a few drops- under 10 total and diluted it with about 10x's the amount of carrier oil in my vase in order to make sure it wasn't overpowering.

The good thing about this oil though- I know it works! We had a very unfortunate situation with our home and had some minor flooding due to some plumbing issues. Fortunately, I had this oil on-hand and had some ready-to-go in about 2 minutes! I was able to quickly eliminate the odor problems that arose within and noticed a big improvement almost as soon as I put out the diffuser!

As for benefits, this oil aids in headache relief which is one of the reasons I wanted to give it a try. As a chronic migraine sufferer, I welcome anything that is less obtrusive and damaging to my body than what's currently offered in the market for over-the-counter and prescription medications to treat migraines.

If you're looking for a good quality essential oil that's also affordable, I would strongly recommend BOTH of these essential oils from InstaNatural!
