ABOUT WHO STILA IS...
They were actually founded in the US by Jeanine Lobell (who was born in Sweden and raised in Europe) in 1994 and is actually pronounced (STEE-la)! They were however bought out by Estee Lauder Companies who then sold it to Sun Capital in 2006; it didn't end here though as in 2009, they became a Lynn Tilton co. when the private equity firm Patriarch Partners, LLC. purchased Stila.
Up until this point, I've only purchased a couple of Stila's products, but that is not because I didn't care for the quality, etc. Their products can sometimes be overpriced I feel and I just haven't seen that many products from the co. that have really "jumped" out at me lately! All that being said though, this product REALLY hit the mark for me and I thought it would be an excellent opportunity to share my review of this awesome lip product :)
STILA COLOR BALM LIPSTICK -COLOR IN MEG
I am not usually that into lipsticks- I just never have liked them. I know that many do and I've been presented by many friends with all the "right reasons" I should use lipstick...but I've never been a fan :/ I did noticed this product almost right away on-site at Sephora.com as it stated that it was sheer and illustrated beautiful packaging! At $22, it's a little more than I might usually pay just for a lip balm, but since it was Stila and seemed to be of good quality I decided to give it a try :)
I was quite glad that I did! Right away I was impressed with the look and feel of the formula- it went easily on my lips, left them feeling nice and soft , and had a very nice and light fresh mint taste and scent! The product goes on like a lipstick, but feels like a balm and looks like a sheer matte color on your lips! There are THREE choices of neutral shades in order to compliment different skin tones, so this may not be a good choice for all as I do not see how they could have possibly covered the spectrum with so little to choose from.
However, I have very fair skin and the color MEG was the only shade I was able to try! There's a very good chance though that my shade would even work for darker skin tones than mine; the other two shades will work for a wider range of skin tones as well, as it does seem that the chosen shades were picked carefully and are sheer neutrals. All-in-all, I would definitely advise to give this lip balm a try if you are looking for a nice sheer lip balm that works like a lipstick! The taste and formula are great and really the only drawback I could find was the price $$$.
