WHY YOU SHOULD ADD RICE BRAN TO YOUR SKIN ROUTINE:

by Christina

WHAT IT IS...

Most of us probably know what rice and bran are, but I myself had no idea that it was the byproduct of the milling process for rice. It actually involves the conversion process of brown to white rice. Rice bran is high in tocotrienols, a form of Vitamin E, beta-sitosterol (currently being studied for providing benefits for lowering BPH & blood cholesterol levels), dietary fibers, and ferulic acid. It can also be extracted into an oil from the harder, outer layer of of the rice husk or shell. The oil is high in antioxidants and phytosterols. Rice bran is very popular in food, skin care, and cosmetics in Japan, Asian, and India.

WHAT CAN RICE BRAN DO FOR SKIN?

Rice Bran provides a fantastic treatment for eczema or ectopic dermatitis and is an awesome antioxidant for skin too! Since it's very high in Vitamin E and fatty acid content, it can deeply penetrate your layers of skin and leave it feeling super soft and moisturized. Skin's elasticity and plumpness will be improved as well :) Rice Bran is often used to improve skin's surface in tandem with facial scrubs, as an exfoliation tool. This in turn, will help boost your skin's cell regeneration and slow down the signs of aging! Lastly, it can reduce the signs of sun damage and has anti-inflammatory properties that will calm skin too!

BONUS PRODUCT REVIEW:

180 COSMETICS

PURE SWISS HYALURONIC SERUM + OXYGEN $13.49*

*Amazon.com w/Prime shipping pricing!

I wanted to review this product today in my post as it includes Rice Bran Protein in addition to Oxygen (Perfluorodecaline), Hyaluronic Acid, and Vitamin C. It also continas No Formaldehyde, Phthalates, GMO's, Triclosan, Fragrances, and colors/dyes. I really noticed the quality of the product and I could see and feel the difference after the first time I used it :) My pores were smaller, my skin looked and felt much smoother, and the softness was definitely a noticeable change for the better!

One awesome thing about this serum from 180 Cosmetics, is that it is a product that would work for most people as it's organic and has no perfumes. I have sensitive skin and this product didn't cause any adverse reactions, despite the Rice Bran or Sorbic Acid (Vitamin C) being in the formula as well. Those ingredients, especially together- can actually cause an allergic reaction for me, but not with this product! :) If you're on the lookout for a great start-out serum or just need an awesome serum that provides great results and is also very affordable, this is the product for you!

The bottle and dropper are also beautifully unique; the glass dropper is a hollowed-out tube in which the product is "pushed" out with a "bubble" of air that's dispensed with the product when the dropper is pressed. The glass bottle appears to be smaller, but at .5 ounces-which is a normal sized bottle for many serums- the bottle is just deceptive ;) The container is actually just taller then the typical bottle, but it's something that's pretty and can be displayed if you wanted to set out.
