I KNOW...YOU'RE PROBABLY THINKING- WHAT KIND OF CRAZINESS IS SHE TALKING!?!...
I thought that too when I first heard of the concept, BUT I was also quite open-minded to the idea :) I consider myself to be fairly tech savvy and I currently work in the mostly male-dominated field of IT Networking so I wanted to make sure that I gave it a chance. After all, it's technology that I can at least say for myself has made my life tremendously easier! Take for example all of the great hand-held beauty devices we use every day- curling/flat irons, hair dryers, and other various tools!
Now I get to the app...yes they have one and it's actually a pretty neat concept! What is does is allow you to put yourself into makeup products that you would normally never be able to see how you would look! What's really cool about this app- ShadeScout, is that you can try all of the looks you want on in REAL TIME :)
what does shadescout do?
There are 7 product choices with options like: "lipstick", "eyeshadow" and "foundation". ShadeScout takes this a step further by letting you choose your own colors from everyday objects...really whatever you'd like by using your phone or device's camera! It then takes that color and allows you to use it for the specific product options- in real time! There are also pre-loaded brands that will have options as well and include brands like: Sephora, Benefit, Lancome, NARS, Revlon, and too many to name.
A featured section offers sections such as "Coachella", "Red Carpet", and "Golden Globes" and this is a neat and fun approach by the app to let you choose shades from these events - called "Scout the Featured Shade". The app picks colors from top dress choices and outfits that were worn at the events and then you can use those to "wear" in real time through your device's camera! The makeup application levels can be adjusted on all color choices too.
The personalization doesn't stop there though! You can share you fav looks with friends and there's even an cool option that tells you what the product it and has a built-in purchasing feature that will let you buy it then and there if you are really into the product :) ShadeScout from FaceCake, works for both Android and iOS devices which means you have good options with almost any device. The option to use your camera's flip function to give your friends makeovers is a neat function too!
I downloaded the app from the Play Store for my Note 3 smartphone in about 2 minutes max and has a recent update from the app store a few days ago on April 15th. It's 28.55 MB size means that you should easily have room for the app and the BEST part...YES- it's FREE. That's right, you read correctly...it's a FREE app :) That's really what I absolutely LOVE about it- not only is it a great concept and neat app, but it doesn't cost a thing.
