She's definitely a very motivated woman and someone that seems to want to share her 20+ years of knowledge with others. She describes herself as a person that has an "I also have an immense passion-obsession for creating beauty and helping others feel beautiful. My personal belief is that true beauty comes from humility and really loving and accepting ourselves first, then having fun testing the waters and trying new things to boost our confidence." 365 quick beauty tips

 adi atar

This book is more in the style of a guide and you will see a nice list on each page of tips that are easily definable by the structuring of the paragraphs, even though the tips are not numbered. When it comes to topics, the range from skincare tips on things like cleansing to hair and nails tips. I went ahead and listed my FAV'S below and tried to group them type of advice as well :)

HAIR & NAILS:

1. USE JOJOBA OIL FOR HAIR AS A LEAVE-IN CONDITIONER: IT WILL MIMIC YOUR HAIR'S NATURAL OILS! YOU CAN ALSO USE OLIVE, MINERAL, OR ALMOND OILS FOR THE SAME TYPE OF TREATMENT.

2. WATER CAN DRY OUT YOUR SKIN AND NAILS- WEAR GLOVES WHILE CLEANING AND WASHES DISHES TO PREVENT DRYING AND FOLLOW UP WITH AN APPLICATION OF MOISTURIZER.

3. IF HAVING TO REMOVE A HANGNAIL, MAKE SURE TO LET THE CUTICLE HEAL AFTERWARDS BEFORE YOU APPLY ANY PRODUCTS SUCH AS A NAIL POLISH TO PREVENT FUTURE HANGNAILS AND ALLOW HEALING.

SKINCARE:

1. YOU CAN USE SUNSCREEN UP TO A COUPLE OF TIMES A WEEK AS AN EXFOLIATER TO CLEAR YOUR PORES- PORES LOOK LARGER DUE TO DEA SKIN CELLS AND SUN DAMAGE!

2. REPLACE MOISTURIZERS THAT ARE HEAVY WITH LOTIONS THAT ARE OIL-FREE; THESE WILL CONTAIN THINGS LIKE CERAMIDES THAT GIVE SKIN HYDRATION WITHOUT THE HEAVINESS FEELING.

3. IF YOU'RE LOOKING FOR GOOD MINERAL MAKEUP, AVOID PRODUCTS THAT CONTAIN INGREDIENTS SUCH AS TALC SINCE TALC IS A FILLER INGREDIENT THAT ACTUALLY CAN CLOG PORES :/

GENERAL BEAUTY TIPS:

1. THE WAY YOUR HANDS LOOK CAN BE EFFECTED BY SOMETHING AS SIMPLE AS THE RING YOU'RE WEARING: GO FOR RINGS ON SHORT FINGERS, WEAR THOSE THAT HAVE STONES OR GEMS THAT WON'T GO PAST YOUR KNUCKLE = STUBBY FINGERS IF YOU DO OTHERWISE!

2. THE BEST SLEEPWEAR IS GOING TO BE BREATHABLE COTTON AS THIS WILL BE THE MOST COMFORTABLE AND ALLOW YOUR SKIN TO BREATH = GOOD NIGHT'S REST :)

3. KEEP YOUR TEETH PROTECTED WHEN DRINKING PRODUCT LIKE SODAS SO AS TO PREVENT EARLY TOOTH DECAY- USE A STRAW INSTEAD.

LOOKING FOR AN EFFECTIVE MOISTURIZER?! MAKE SURE IT CONTAINS SHEA BUTTER!

by Christina

A LITTLE BACKGROUND SHEA BUTTER:

I absolutely had NO idea that this ingredient is from the fat pulled from the nut of the African shea tree- Vitellaria paradoxa. It's usually a white or ivory in color and is composed mostly of fat in the form of triglycerides; these fats come from stearic and oleic acids. In Africa, Shea butter is edible and utilized in the preparation of food. Shea butter is also used very widely in cosmetics and skincare in products like lotions or salves.

The history of Shea butter can be found as far back as Egyptian times with canvases displaying jars of Shea butter for cosmetic use and as valuable commodities. They believed in the healing properties of Shea butter and used it to protect their hair and skin against the elements of their harsh environment- it's still used in this area today for the same reasons!

There are many methods in preparing Shea butter for extractions and refining: there's separating or cracking, crushing, roasting, grinding, separating the oils, and lastly collecting and shaping. With the first mentioned method of cracking, the outside pulp is removed from the fruit and is traditionally done by Women elders and young women who will utilize small rocks and break the shells on the ground.

With Crushing, the nuts are simply crushed and done traditionally using a mortar and pestle; then the crushed nuts are roasted. With Roasting, the crushed nuts are heated over open wood fires and stirred quite frequently with wooden paddles in order to prevent the butter from burning; then this paste is hand-kneaded with water to help separate the butter oils. The process ends with this paste being re-melted over a slow-burning fire and this helps evaporate the remaining water.

Grinding is similar to crushing except the Shea nuts are roasted first and then ground into a smooth paste that's mixed by hand with water. As for separating the oils, the Shea paste is kneaded by hand with water in large containers until the butter oils separate and float to the top; the butter is then easily removed since it's in a curd-like state and then the remaining water in the mixture is squeezed out. The last method- collecting and shaping takes creamy Shea butter from the top of pots and put into a cool place in order to harden; this is then formed into balls. Did I mention there were quite a few methods?!

SHEA BUTTER BENEFITS :)

There's a reason why Shea butter is put into so many cosmetic products today- lip glosses, creams, moisturizers, emulsions, leave-in hair treatments, and more! This is because it works! It's an awesome moisturizer, while also improving blemishes and skin conditions such as eczema and dermatitis, in addition to providing healing properties to treat skin allergies, bites from insects, sunburns, and even frostbite!

HAVE YOU HEARD OF ARGIRELINE? LEARN ABOUT THE BOTOX ALTERNATIVE THAT'S AFFORDABLE TOO:

by Christina

WHAT IN THE WORLD IS ARGIRELINE?!

This is actually a peptide called hexapeptide-3, that's a naturally-sourced protein and it's used in quite a few makeup and skincare products. Lipotec is the Spain-based company that creates the organic peptide- made up of a chain of 6 amino acids. This hexapeptide mimics proteins that cause neurotransmitters to efficiently "release" and facial contractions are as a result- weakened, with muscles more relaxed. This in turn, prevents wrinkles from also being formed.

the research:

The company does also state that studies have shown a reductions in depth by 17% within 2 weeks with the skin on the face also becoming smoother. These claims however, have not been confirmed by double-blind and further studies and that means that verdict is still out on Argireline. I will however state that I recently had the opportunity to try out a product that contains this peptide and I wanted to share my thoughts about my experiences with Argireline.

Those with thicker skin may want to try other options as products containing Argireline will be topically applied and do not penetrate as deep as for example Botox, that's injected into the skin. You want to look for products that contain 10% -20% of a concentration of Argireline. There has been a recent and credible medical research study with promising results showing that after only a month's use, some users had up to a 30% reduction in wrinkle depth!

WHAT DOES ARGIRELINE do?

The verdict IS still out, however with all of the promising research and results means that it's something we might want to take a second look at! It's highly effective at the reduction in wrinkles, although it does range between 15-30% depending on factors such as skin type. There have been claims to sagging of the skin with long-term usage, but there have been no studies thus far showing this as truth. The results of Argireline have actually been quite the opposite- the rejuvenation of skin to a youthful and fresh feel and appearance. The really unique thing about this peptide is that is can also prevent wrinkles too- nothing like fighting the signs of aging in the future!

are there any precautions?!

The effects of Argireline are very minimal and fantastic when compared to Botox- you aren't going to have to worry about the poison of Botox usage and you can still deliver similar effects that are also affordable! There have been some very few reports of users experiencing slight tingling following application, dry and flaky skin, and some redness at the application site. It's also highly recommended to avoid this product when your skin is sunburned or irritated prior to use!

ARE THERE ANY PRODUCTS CONTAINING ARGIRELINE THE BEAUTY CLOSET RECOMMENDS?!

ANAVITA MOISTURIZING ANTI-WRINKLE CREAM

1.7 FL OZ./$29.95*

Amazon.com w/Prime membership pricing!

What I absolutely LOVE about this fantastic cream is that it's really an all-around great option for anyone- all skin types and ages! This product DOES contain Argireline, which makes it a good candidate for younger skin in the prevention of aging signs as well as those already showing those signs too! I have super sensitive skin as well and I'm able to use this product on a daily basis and have had no adverse issues or effects :)

It has no dyes or drying alcohol and contains a very mild and light fragrance and that keeps the product from irritating your skin. It has a unique texture in the container with a sort-of whipped feeling that translates into a sheer and light formula that goes on easily. It dries in about 2 minutes so you can put this on before makeup without really adding to your prep time :)

Once it dries, you're going to immediately notice how soft this product makes your skin! I haven't really used a product before that gave me such softness and smoothness. The longer you use this cream, the better the results are- I've started to see a slight lessening of the fine lines appearing around my eyes with the 2nd week of use, which is promising.

There's the added benefit of moisturization since I've begun use of the Anavita Moisturizing Cream and I haven't had to keep using the separate moisturizer I was using previously as a result. This has been a goo, yet surprising bonus to the product that I wasn't expecting :) Lastly, I wanted to mention I really LOVE the container it arrives in- it's very well-made and IS an actual metal encased container.

The screw-on lid it easy to open and there's an additional plastic top that keeps the product from getting onto the lid itself. It seems that Anavita did take a bit of thought in the approach to the design of their product too! This is one I'd DEF RECOMMEND to women of all ages and skin types :) It's affordable, you'll get results, and you'll LOVE the product! TEA TREE OIL: THE ORGANIC SOLUTION TO ACNE + RADHA BEAUTY TEA TREE OIL PRODUCT REVIEW!

by Christina

THE HISTORY OF TEA TREE OIL:

Tea Tree oil (TTO) is also known by another name- Melaleuca oil and it has a wide range of medicinal and beneficial properties. The oil is derived from the tree's twigs and leaves and is native to Southeast Queensland, Australia, and parts of New South Wales; it's extracted through a steam distillation process. A lot of the information and research available today comes from "folk-medicine" and much of it is not medically proven.

When it comes to Autralia and New Zealand, tea tree is actually used for several different plants that are related to the myrtle and may have originated from Captain Cook's description of the these shrubs: the Captain used these short trees to make an infused drink similar to his usual tea. As for the commercial production, Tea Tree oil comes from the Melaleuca plant.

WHAT IT CAN DO FOR YOUR SKIN:

A study review from NIH in 2012 indicates that a 5% Tea Tree oil topical application can be just as effective as a 5% benzoyl peroxide treatment. It results in less itching, scaling, and all-around irritation than benzoyl peroxide, although it may have slower results than benzoyl peroxide as well! It can be used in combination with glycolic acid and this creates a fantastic- and natural alternative to an exfoliant treatment.

There are antiseptic properties of Tea Tree oil that make it an alternative natural infection fighter against bacteria and fungi; this means that sores, cuts, and acne are great candidates for this oil as it doesn't have all the usual side effects as a lot of the treatments out there do. Lastly, Tea Tree oil provides great moisturization and has great anti-inflammatory effects on the skin {i.e. for sunburns!}  and your scalp- it can even prevent dandruff and strengthen your hair's hold on your scalp too!

PRECAUTIONS ABOUT TEA TREE OIL:

It's listed as safe for most people when applied topically to the skin, although some people have experienced skin irritation and some over-dryness, depending on amounts being used. It should NOT be taken internally and if so, it can cause severe and adverse reactions with the immune system and central nervous system. It's also recommended to NOT use this oil as at full-strength on the skin as well as it can cause toxicity!

BONUS PRODUCT REVIEW:

RADHA BEAUTY 100% pure tea tree oil $14.89*

Amazon.com + Prime pricing!

This is a fantastic oil that really is versatile and I LOVE that it came in its purest form with a nice glass dropper as well. Radha Beauty really does know good organic quality and this product is no different! They even got the bottle right by creating a well-made, dark blue glass bottle so as to prevent air and light from effecting the oil. I was able to easily get out just the perfect amount that I wanted to add to my lotions and other products before application :)

It worked excellently with a couple of the facial lotions that I have in addition to a moisturizing serum- I noticed the difference with being able to keep breakouts at bay more easily while still being able to apply my other favorite products. You don't need to use much and I would advise to be careful when using Tea Tree oil in general in concentrated form, so you should be able to keep this 4 oz. bottle for a very long while!

I would use 4-5 drops at maximum and that really should be all you would need- if you do use too much it could cause irritation and that's the opposite of what you're trying to achieve! This product also worked very well with the Radha Fractionated Coconut oil since it's a carrier oil too and I felt that a nice plus :) As for the price, it really is VERY affordable and very worth the value for it's wonderful skincare properties with a whole slew of other awesome benefits as well.
