Want to Stay Ageless?!
There's a reason why plastic surgery for example, is on the rise! The never-ending pressure to stay youthful and beautiful are all around us, as I'm sure many of us have noticed since a very young age. It does seem though that the emphasis on beauty in general has become much more prominent in recent years, but I honestly feel that it's not what we should be focusing on.
Why not focus on what each of our own definitions of beauty actually are...after all, beauty is in the eye of the beholder! I've found this to be personally true as you discover that others that you come into contact with often have very different views of what they find makes a person beautiful.
There are some people that I've met that are perhaps someone I would consider to be beautiful on the outside, but their character-i.e. who they are, is quite the opposite. To me, this makes the person unattractive and shows their true self- which isn't so beautiful. You must not only show outer-beauty, but inner-beauty as well :) That's why I wanted to share with all of you today about The Beauty Closet's Top Beauty Book for the Spring- Breaking the Age Code by Lesley Goodson! Find out more about this fantastic read below!
The Beauty Closet Recommends:
Breaking the Age Code
It's been a while since I came across a beauty book that I've enjoyed as much as this one! I jumped at the chance to see what this book was all about and I was able to get my hands on a copy! This fantastic beauty read will be coming out very shortly, in May- so make sure to be on the lookout. Breaking the Age Code is well-written and easily organized into an engaging layout that leaves a nice impression- just from first glance.
Once I started really digging into the book, I found a wealth of information that I didn't know and that's a rarity for me as a beauty blogger ;) Lesley begins the book with an in-depth look into what causes common skincare & beauty issues, like: dark spots, loss of firmness, wrinkles, and the anatomy of the dermis. In Chapter 4, titled the Top 5 Reasons Your Skin Ages- How to Stop and Repair the Damage, the author breaks down the reasons of why we age.
Thoughtfully placed throughout the book, are sections labeled Age Breakers- The Power of the Network; these unique parts contain great nuggets of knowledge for some of the more difficult issues in skincare and beauty: fighting the signs of aging! One of my fav's is the Age Breaker: Break the Bonds that Age adresses the foods that we should go for and the things we should avoid. I really like the Ask the Expert segments are scattered throughout the chapters as well- these are awesome Q & A's with Lesley Goodson & medical professionals. These experts have an absolute wealth of knowledge to offer and decently organized interviews make this one of my fav parts of the entire book :)
Chapter 6 features The System which is composed of 4 parts: smooth, strengthen, and stimulate; Leslie recommends that your skincare routine should contain at least "one active" from each category. She breaks down each one of these categories in great detail, utilizing colorful pie charts and scales to show how each category is affected by what you do. Lesley even offers up advice on how and what you should eat, in Chapter 7. She understands that you can make all the changes in the world, but changing your diet completes a huge part of the missing piece of the puzzle when it comes to aging!
Towards the end of the book, there is a sneak-peak at what's on the horizon for Lesley, with the birth of her BeautyProof skincare company as well. She share a little bit about why she started it up and what she hopes it will do in the future for others :) As for the last few pages, they contain a multitude of what Leslie calls "Your Survival Kit" The Skin Pearls Glossary; the entire chapter is broke up into sections in detail with each parts of The System [found in chapter 6].
Overall, I was well-impressed with the amount of good beauty information that this book contained and it's definitely one that I would recommend for any beauty-obsessed gal- at any age! There's something in here for even those that might consider themselves to be beauty mavens :)
