April 2016 Maven Un-boxing:
My favorite months are usually during the Spring & Summer for Julep! The brand seems to put out some of their best color options and collections for nails, eyes, & lips. Plus, there are quite a few new products that tend to come out around this time as well. Julep's Zodiac Collection and cream-to-powder eyeshadow sticks for example, both came out with vibrant new shades like "Olive Shimmer", "Plum Shimmer" [both shadow stick shades], & "Seaside Sunset" [Pisces Nail Polish color].
I actually got the chance to join Jane Park's Live-stream on Facebook for this month's collection a couple of weeks ago- so I did have an idea what was coming for April ;) I usually try and participate in her live video and chat sessions that she has once a month. This gives me a sneak-peek into what's coming up- plus Jane normally offers up a great prize to win by tweeting a response to a question she'll ask at the end of each live chat.
You can even ask Jane questions- live! On a quick side-note... From my own experience in business, I've found this to be a rarity- you don't find CEO's that are so willing to interact with their customers on such a personal & genuine level. I suppose that's why I've been a loyal customer myself, for almost 2 years now.
I've had a couple of minor issues with shipments being late and once my card was mistakenly charged when I had a gift sub. on my account, customer service has been absolutely golden every time that I've had a problem. Now we get to this month's box ;) I made sure to sign in my account as soon as our boxes were ready this time around and that way, I wouldn't miss out on anything that I really wanted! Get the lowdown on the April 2016 Julep Maven Box, below:

I absolutely LOVED this box for April :) Of course it helps if you know what's coming before it arrives, but I was taking a chance on 2 new products that Julep just rolled out for this month. I wasn't quite sure I would actually like the newest items, but I took a chance since I've like most of their newest additions as of late.
The Detoxifying Cleansing Stick is probably my fav product out of the entire box. I love the fresh and clean scent and the ease-of-use- you simply twist up the product a bit and apply some of the product into your already-wet hands. It lathers up nicely and rinses off easily- the results are ultra soft, smooth, and clean skin.
A blend of rice bran, grapefruit peel, & camellia seed oils- plus pomegranate fruit enzymes, make this product a detoxifying miracle-worker :) You'll get a deep-penetrating & exfoliating cleansing- without tons of harsh chemicals and residue left behind! At only $28 regularly-priced, this is a decent deal too!
When it comes to the Konjac Sponge, I admit to being partial to these awesome little cleansing geniuses for some time now. These natural exfoliators are curated from the Konjac plant [roots] and the particular version that I chose to snag from Julep is enriched with Kaolin Clay.
Not only all of Julep's Konjac Sponges 100% biodegradable and compostable, but they are recommended for all skin types :) The Kaolin Clay option is gentle enough to use daily and is great for removing detoxifying impurities that are deep in the skin. Julep's Konjac Sponges come packaged in a sealed package, but it's not resealable. I do however advise that since it's a sponge, it should be left out after each use so that it will completely dry out and won't encourage bacterial growth.
There is an attached string that's made into a loop, atop the sponge and also an included tiny suction cup; this little cup has an attached loop that allows you to hang the sponge via its string. I'm glad that Julep thought of this as it makes drying out your sponge a super easy process and you can place it virtually anywhere :)The quality is fantastic as well and that means that I will have to snatch up their other Green Tea & Charcoal Konjac Sponges too!
Lastly, I wanted to touch on the nail polish- Christa. This is actually a color that has been out for a bit, but I never managed to pick it up. I really like shimmery purples when it comes to nail shades and this one seemed perfect for Spring. Julep's special effect polishes are usually beautiful- but beware...if you're not into a bit of glitz and sparkle, then colors from this collection may not be for you. 2 coats of this and 1 layer of Juelp's top-coat and my manicure will last a week :0 I can't wait to wear this as my new shade for next week!
Total cost? It's normally around or just under $30 monthly for current Mavens and if you purchased these items from julep.com individually, then you're looking at around $54 in total. Luckily this month's box didn't cost me a thing as I currently have a gift sub. from my fiance and I did decide to take my box, but I could have chosen to skip the month if I'd wanted to and kept it for a future month's Maven box. I'm glad a decided to take April's Maven Box- it's one of my top picks from the year, thus far!
