Jasmine & Lemongrass:
The Scents of Summer
When I think of Summer, 2 of my fav scents that come to mind are Jasmine & Lemongrass. These 2 fragrances embody Summer! For starters, Jasmine is something that you might have heard of before...it can be found in a variety of skincare products, cosmetics, & fragrances. The recognizable & beautiful flowers are normally white or yellow- and sometimes [although rare] a slight reddish shade.
They also produce berries that turn black once they ripen. With over 200 species that are native to tropical and subtropical areas of Europe, this super fragrant vine/shrub is well-recognized throughout the world. In parts of Asia, women use the flower as a hair accessory and in China, Jasmine is utilized in jasmine-flower tea- which is usually a base for curating green or white tea. What's really unique about Jasmine, is that it's also been proven with lab testing to reduce anxiety, promote an overall sense of calmness, & even encourage sleep or rest. When it comes to Lemongrass, this is a completely different type of plant- resembling more of a grass-type structure than that of a vine or flowering shrub like Jasmine. Lemongrass is native to Africa, Australia, & Asia and is various species are utilized in a wide variety of products. Citronella grass for example, is a type of Lemongrass that is used to create citronella oil.
This type of oil is often found in insect repellent, insect sprays, and soaps. Recent research has also shown Lemongrass to be an effective antifungal as well. In India, Lemongrass has used in traditional herbal medicine to aid with coughs, colds, etc. when brewed as an herbal tea.
What's awesome about Lemongrass, is that is naturally relieves stress and anxiety and is the perfect scent companion to Jasmine ;) It's also been found to be an excellent insomnia natural sleep aid too!
