Want the Perfect Summer Legs?
When Summer 'rounds the corner, I'm quick to pull out a few things from my "skincare bag-of-tricks" - particularly when it comes to my legs. As I try and avoid super-lengthy sun exposure with my very fair skin, they are quite on the paler side of the spectrum :/
I'm okay with not getting skin cancer, etc.....but I'm not exactly okay with having legs that don't look like they've even had a touch of sun either! It tends to bring out any flaws, scars, and skin discoloration that you may have and accentuates them. There's also the issue that Summer poses in which your legs need to go through more frequent care, such as shaving. You can avoid this constant upkeep easily though by utilizing a different method of attack ;)
I often switch to waxing during the summer and it does make things much easier to manage- I don't have to shave as regularly and my legs look fantastic! They're smooth and are well-prepped for self-tanning product application too. Find out more about this fantastic & inexpensive item below:
The Beauty Closet Recommends:
Exfoliating Body Wax Strips
If you're seeking an easy way to exfoliate and rid hair on your legs. I wouldn't really recommend these for places such as the bikini area [you can use it here, but I would be very cautious], underarms, or face- this is also advised on the provided box instructions. Mainly due to the fact that it's not really designed for these more delicate areas and the sheets are not the right size either.
These do however, work very well for your arms & legs. First, you want to make sure that your legs are clean and dry- don't apply moisturizers and other products beforehand. This will prevent the product from adhering as well and it won't do what it's designed to do! I utilized the rougher side of the strip as the instructions also stated and gently rubbed in circular motions, in order to exfoliate with the strip. Then, you can rub the strip between your hands for up to a minute so that the wax will be warmed and the strip will separate properly.
The only part that I found a bit tricky and took me a couple of times to get down, was the next step: after warming the strip between your hands for about a minute or less, slowly peel the strip apart. If you take your time and the wax is warmed up enough, this will occur as it should; but, if you don't take this approach then you might end up with a slight mess on your hands or an unusable strip at that point :/
Once the strip is separated, place the wax strip over the area you want to wax and then press it firmly down by going over at least 3-5 times. The key to ensuring that all of the hair is removed on the applied area, ensure that you hold your skin super taught and then pull the strip away from you- in the opposite direction of the hair's growth. Try also keeping your hand & the strip as parallel to your skin, as possible.
As the instructions state, you can use the strip until it's no longer working. I did try this as well and found that I could re-use the strip at least twice on average, before having to toss it. With 20 strips per package, you can definitely get out more than one treatment for both legs. The 4 included post wax calming wipes do seem to help quite a bit and I noticed that the almond oil makes a real difference in soothing skin after completing treatment.
Overall, this is a really good product for the price and will save you a lot time & effort that you might otherwise spend on continually shaving your legs, during these warmer Summer months. Now you can spend less money & more time beachside/poolside with friends- relaxing, then on your skincare routine ;)
