What Do the Camelina Plant, Pink Silk Tree, & Mushroom all Have in Common...?
They Can Rejuvenate Tired, Stressed, & Aging Eyes!
Let's start with what each of these plants actually are! Firstly, there's the Camelina plant of more commonly known by false flax and are native to Mediterranean regions of Europe & Asia. The first written record of the genus of plants being used as an oil plant crop, was in the early 1760's by bontanist Johann von Crantz. Thus far, the plants have show promising benefits as they contain high levels of Omega-3 oils EPA & DHA in their seeds, with field trials for human health & environmental benefit studies that began in 2016. You can read more about the current research in The Plant Journal by the Society for Experimental Biology, for free via online PDF format >here<.
What's so great about Omega-3's when it comes to your skin? These fatty acids in particular, are responsible for providing a healthy cell membrane which acts as a protective barrier and nutrient passageway for your skin cells! This improves their ability to retain water, revealing softer, moisturized, healthier skin as a result :) But Omega-3's don't just stop there when it comes to your skin. According to skin care expert Nicholas Perricone, MD, these fatty acids help reduce inflammatory compounds which are the natural chemicals involved with the aging process; this means that they can also aid with fighting those pesky signs of aging as well!
Now let's take a look at the Pink Silk Tree....you might have seen this tree before! My mother and I had several of these trees adorning our property when I was growing up and I always enjoyed them. They generally bloom around Springtime and contain fluffy, light-pinkish flowers made up of numerous silky threads and little fruit bean-like pods that accompanied their blooms. Bees, butterflies, & hummingbirds are often attracted to them due to their color & sweet fragrance. What does it do for the skin? It's believed to protect against glycation, which is the process that results in the signs of aging- such as collagen loss & skin elasticity. In turn, the Pink Silk Tree can breath life back into aged, tired-looking skin giving it renewed suppleness & radiance.
Lastly, let's take a look our 3rd natural ingredient: Mushrooms. Nope! They're not just for cooking- they offer up skin benefits as well. It should be noted that mushrooms are not in fact a plant, but the are instead a fungus that's typically found in above-ground soil or directly on its food source. Microscopic spores are spread by the mushroom's gills, which in some cases with specific species- can be toxic & even fatal to humans & animals. With a water content of over 90%, with a rich daily source of Vitamins B & minerals- such as riboflavin, niacin, zinc, & potassium it's easy to see why mushrooms can be quite beneficial to the skin! As they contain a high source of vitamins, minerals, & antioxidants mushrooms can help your skin fight the signs of aging, while also reducing inflammation and improving water-retention of the skin as well :)
