Skincare Meets Science:
La Roche-Posay is one of my all-time fav skincare brands for their stand-out quality products that feature safe ingredients that are great for all skin types- even those with ultra sensitive skin like myself ;) Lately, they've been buzzing around the skincare world with their latest skincare ingenuity: My UV Patch. This unique patch works in conjunction with an app that provides you with personalized data that's collected while your skin experiences sun exposure. By wearing up to 3 days [for best results] on your hand for example, you can find out just how much damage- or how little, the sun is doing to your skin. The key here, is to utilize this unique tool in conjunction with your sun protection product in order to show how well the product does its job.
So what exactly is it? It's the first-ever of its kind for starters and designed to measure UV exposure as an ultra-thin wearable skin sensor; the patch measures UV exposure through a particular type of technology in which the data collected, is then translated into easy-to-understand information. This information comes in the form of messages in the app and then offers up helpful tips to aid in safer sun behavior. As for its unique design, this serves a specific purpose as well: the heart-filled shape features blue & white photosensitive dyed squares on a patch that is only 100 micrometers thick- this makes it not only stretchable, but breathable as well.
The photosensitive squares assist in measuring the UV exposure and unlike similar products out on the market currently, My UV Patch is the first to provide quantitative data to assess UV exposure- not just qualitative visual data. Another first for a product of its kind, this patch from La Roche-Posay takes in the additional factors of perceived skin tone and existing sunscreen application to help it accurately estimate the amount of personal UV exposure. To get it to work, simply wear on the skin [for most accurate readings the brand recommends placing the patch on the back of your hand] anywhere on the skin you want to monitor- for up to 3 days and then manually perform a scan of the patch with the app. You can also continue to do all of your normal activities- including swimming, running, & other sporting/outdoor events.
What was my overall impression of the app and My UV Patch? I Absolutely love it and think that it's a fabulous idea for helping anyone stay aware of their sun exposure and what the sun's harmful rays can do. It arrived in a nicely sealed package that also allows for it to be resealed. The inner packaging comes in a reflective card that folds into a cute matching heart shape of the patch itself, which is neatly tucked inside the card and attached to a card until you are ready to apply it.
Simply peel off the connected foil-like patch covering and place it on the desired area of skin. As for the app, it provides helpful tips on how to properly manage your sun exposure by scanning the patch [after downloading the app and using it to scan the patch]. Learn if your current sun behavior is within a safe level and what your daily 'sun-stock' is. You can even get a bit of info about your local weather and the level of UV present- in addition the pollution levels where you are located!

Clear Skin Dry Touch Sunscreen Face 60
If you've ever struggled with breakouts and 'oil-slicks' on your face after applying sunscreen on your neck and face area, then you can relate when I say that it's a bit on the frustrating side. Fortunately, La Roche-Posay has created an awesome product that won't clog pores and is specifically designed for those with sensitive skin in mind :) It's 100% oil-free formula that allows for a dry-touch texture that dries quickly and is water resistant up to 80 mins.
With a broad spectrum SPF of 60, this wonderful sun protection product does its job well and prevent harmful damage from the sun's rays on your neck and face! Due to its high wearability, it can be worn underneath makeup and gives even those reluctant to typically apply a sun protection product to their face, the opportunity to protect themselves during sun exposure. Paraben-free, fragrance-free, and tested on sensitive skin- this is the way to go for sun protection!
