I admit that over recent years, I have not necessarily become the greatest fan of drugstore beauty brands and products. Why? For starters, with all of the years of R&D and tons of funds these companies have been pumping into the marketplace for years- you would think they might come up with products that boasted safer ingredients and improved formulas....but that's not what I often find. Instead, I have discovered products full of gross ingredients I would never consider putting on my skin- let alone in my body :0 Yet, that's what you discover in mass retailers, drugstores, and online stores alike :( However, there's a silver lining to all of this- the dawn of a new era in beauty, skincare, and cosmetics industries: safer, quality products contrived of organic & natural ingredients that are good for your skin and actually do what they claim :) Consumer demands for safer, cleaner products that have been clinically tested too, have become a marketplace mainstay and is one of the biggest niches in beauty today! Although I still prefer beauty brands and labels that might not necessarily be on drugstore shelves, I have at least started to give them a chance. Some big brands have made recent attempts to jump on the organic and natural skincare bandwagon and they don't always bring great results, but that also doesn't mean they aren't out there...it does mean though, that they aren't always that easy to find. That's where I come in ;) Check out one of my skincare drugstore picks for Summer, below:

Exfoliate & Refining Face Mask
I fell in love with this mask from the start and as a whole- the pure-clay mask collection from L'Oreal is top-notch. Each mask comes in a shade matching its focus of skin concern, such as the one featured in today's recommended skincare product for Summer! Red clay has been proven quite effective in reducing blemishes, dirt, and excess oil and aids with breakouts and acne-prone skin. Each mask comes in a nice glass jar with a generous 1.7 oz. size of product so you get a decent value as well :) The whipped texture of the mask makes it easy and almost fun to apply and it also allows for you to easily vary the thickness of application. Once you apply the mask, you simply allow it to dry and leave it on the skin for up to 15 mins. I use a clean, wet wash cloth to remove the mask and then splash my skin with lukewarm water- followed by lightly patting the skin dry with a towel. What I've noticed is that my skin is clearer, smoother, brighter, and softer! I also love the way the product smells- it has a light, non-annoying scent and it doesn't dry out the skin. Additionally, I've noticed a reduction in pore size and improved skin texture. For under $15, that's not an achievement to be overlooked! If you are looking to improve your skin's texture, dullness, reduce large pore size, remove impurities, or fight breakouts or acne issues- then this is mask for you! Summer tends to bring on the overproduction of oil and sebum, which results in clogged pores, blackheads, and possible breakouts :( Skip on the expensive skincare masks, irritation, & spa visits and give this mask or another fab mask from the L'Oreal Pure-Clay Mask collection!
