Apitoxin of honey bee venom has a similar composition and mixture of proteins to that of sea nettle toxin. The branch of alternative medicine called Apitherapy, utilizes honey bee products including the: pollen, honey, and venom of bees. As for the final verdict, it's still out on the effectiveness of this type of treatment. There are quite a few cosmetic and skincare products now featuring bee venom and normally target anti-aging and moisturization needs.

The good news however, is that there have been some promising research in regards to the effectiveness of honey for use in skincare :) Honey has been used for thousands of years to help heal burns and cover wounds in order to aid in sterilization. It's also fantastic for reducing  itching as it creates a natural barrier and honey is excellent in treating skin conditions associated with itching such as psoriasis and atopic dermatitis.

As a powerful antioxidant, honey produced from bees can promote cell turnover and improvement with the signs of aging as well. The Mayo Clinic has some great references that I found that contain scientific papers and studies on honey research, so make sure to check that out. I'm all about real science behind things that I recommend and use myself- I feel that's ultra-important to remember as I continue my quest for safe, quality, organic/natural products whenever possible. That's how we get to The Beauty Closet's recommended skincare items from Manuka Doctor! Get the lowdown on 2 of their top products: the Illusionist Rapid Lift Mask and the Flawless Primer below :)

Manuka Doctor

Illusionist Rapid Lift Mask

*find it HERE!

I absolutely LOVED this product from the moment it arrived. The well-made and nicely designed glass container with screw-on metal lid also comes boxed up. What really sets this mask apart are the super powerful and good-for-your ingredients like: 18+UMF Manuka honey, bee venom, Chicory Root, and Cocoa Butter. As for the scent and texture, it's equally as wonderful! The formula allows for the product to go on and spread easily. Once applied, you will want to leave on the mask for 10 minutes and then remove the remaining product.

I like to use a washcloth to do this, but you may rinse it off with cool water as well. I will advise if you do have allergies to bees, I would utilize caution before using this product- it may be good to consult your physician if this is the case. Your skin will not only look luminous an refreshed, but it will feel soft and smooth too! This mask also helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, leaving your skin tightened and moisturized :)

Manuka Doctor

Flawless Primer

*get it HERE!

I've tried quite a few primers out there and this is definitely one of the BEST! Not only does it work instantly and is perfect for under makeup, but it's also formulated with 18+UMF Manuka honey, lintel fruit extract, and bee venom. The product dries in a snap as well, which means you can apply this product right before your makeup without adding tons of time to your routine :) As for the applicator, it's very easy to use as well and keeps you from wasting product. If you've been seeking a good primer that's not made with tons of unhealthy ingredients, this is the way to go!
